It's game time!!!

So the big game is on Sunday, and we are attending our good friends' annual Superbowl Party, right outside of the Superbowl venue itself!!! We will be enjoying the game with some great friends, indoors, with lots of food, booze,  fun & excitement, all while being less than 30 minutes from MetLife Stadium. The husband and I have had to implement a "game plan", no pun intended, just to avoid as much traffic as possible getting to the party on Sunday because the game is in our home state. We are very excited that NJ, yes you saw that correct- the Superbowl is in NJ NOT NY, is hosting this year and despite our frigid temperatures recently, I truly believe that everyone at the game will enjoy themselves because this venue is quite new and a very nice stadium to host such an event.
Onto the bigger questions- Who are you rooting for? Are you hosting or attending a Superbowl Party? If so, are you making any special dishes for the event? I'm in charge of dessert for the Superbowl Party, so I am trying to figure that out. Our family is supporting our Denver family (my BIL & SIL) and rooting for the Broncos, especially because we are big fans of Peyton Manning. I think that this is their year and I am really hoping that as the #1 offense faces the #1 defense, that they can prevail!
What are some of your Superbowl traditions? Does anyone take any bets on who will win? Are there any fun games that you and your family/friends play while watching the big game? I know a lot of the gals at our Superbowl party we attend each year enjoy watching for the commercials, but as a football fan myself, I really enjoy the actual game. I am a NY Giants fan personally, so in the past 6 years, I've had the fun of watching my team win 2 Superbowls which is awesome. I am excited to see the half time performance this year with Bruno Mars- I think he is a great performer and it should be a great show!
I hope everyone who will be watching on Sunday enjoys the game, the commercials and the performances. It is really a very exciting time for those who live in NJ & NY to have the Superbowl in our backyard and I am hoping that the Broncos pull off a great win and take home the Superbowl XLVIII trophy!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Last week, I watched and re-watched, my favorite show, Ellen, and of course it was the episode that she was interviewing Leo DiCaprio, that I was honed in on. But on that episode also, Sara Bareilles performed her new hit "Brave". I was mesmerized because I had never seen her perform live, despite being a big fan of her music, but the lyrics to this song just hit me and I fell in love with this song. I felt that it was so empowering- for ANYONE! I then ran to you tube and watched the video for it, and then fell even more in love because it truly encompasses all that I feel the song does. There are so many different people and types of people that need to "say what they wanna say and let the words fall out". We all deserve that chance to be "BRAVE".  For all my loyal loves- I honestly want to see you be brave! Take a chance, do something extraordinary- because there is only ONE you and this song/video gave me a totally new perspective on things. I want to be as brave as the people in this video are to do what they all did to make this video (now granted I am sure they were paid), but what would happen if we all just "let it all out" so to speak, and just had that one minute even of bravery, where we let all of our inhibitions go and just said what we wanted to say or did exactly what we wanted to do?

Some inspiration for the new year!

I apologize in advance for bombarding everyone with "new years" posts, but I am really looking forward to a fresh start with many things for 2014. I want to be able to live my life freely and with the love and compassion that I have for others, and hopefully gain some back in return. I have many hopes and dreams this year and goals that I had never thought to even set for myself, that are now my determination in life. With that said, and the lovely world of Pinterest, I found this:

I am going to use this as my motivation for 2014. I want to truly release the negativity in my life- even if it means letting go of people, things, etc that are weighing me down. I need positive influences and people in my life, especially at this moment. I want to remain as optimistic as possible about many aspects of my life, so you may find me often posting about something I found profound or inspirational, in hopes that I can inspire those around me- that is, after all, my ultimate goal in life- to inspire others.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy 2014 to my lovies!!!

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed ringing in the new year! Husband and I went to the Melting Pot for dinner with a bunch of friends and just sat at home with some champagne to actually ring in the new year since our tradition is to kiss the girls after kissing each other when the ball drops.

So....did any of you make any Resolutions for 2014? I sure did! I've been journaling for a few years now and I'm glad that I do because it is a great way to either vent, or highlight aspects of my days. I choose to focus more on the positive aspects of my life here on the blog, not to "paint a perfect picture" that doesn't exist, but because no one needs to read about what may have negatively impacted me, maybe unless there is a lesson learned behind it. One of my resolutions this year that I am going to try very hard to do is be a little kinder to myself- not in a selfish way, because I'll be honest I doubt I'll ever be able to look at anything in my life and not find a flaw in myself somehow some way. I just want to not judge myself as harshly as I have in the past because so many of my friends and family have told me that in order for me to "grow" as a person, I have to give myself some credit for what I can do or what I have done. Like I said- I am going to try. I believe that when we make a resolution, it is a trial- to do our best at whatever we set that resolution to be. We may not perfect it, but we can try to be our best. I hope that whatever resolutions any of you have made, that you realize that you can do whatever you put your mind to!!!!

I wish all of you the best that 2014 has to offer and hope that I get the chance to interact with more of you everyday and "meet" some incredible people!

A little bit about me...

Hi there and thank you for visiting my little space of the internet, where I share some of my family stories, or hope to provide some inspiration for many, but most importantly to keep my sanity by writing amongst being a mother of two toddler girls, a former labor and delivery RN and wife. I hope you find yourself comfortable as you kick up your feet, maybe grab a cup of coffee, and read what little things may be happening over this way-WELCOME!
